There are two areas in Kuwait in which it is possible to find ‘antique’ items although on closer inspection it will be evident that many antiques are not as old as one may be lead to belive.

On Salem Al Mubarak Street in Salmiya, between Marks and Spencers and the Qatar Street intersection, there is an inconspicuous sign directing customers to the ‘Castle for Antiques’. The steps lead down to a basement area which is filled with a number of small shops selling various wares. These are considered to be the best shops of their type in Kuwait.

The Zigzag Souq in Fahaheel, which is undergoing refurbishment (some vendors have moved just across the road) has a number of similar shops but tends to have more items manufactured in India.
